I was talking to a friend, and they mentioned that I had never told them my story about when I photographed Garth Brooks, Tricia Yearwood, and Troy Aikman. It got me to thinking I should write a blog about this! A few years ago, I was asked to shoot for an event in Denver where a children’s wing was being opened at a local hospital. I had the pleasure, and honor to photograph these celebrities while they interacted with the children.
After the shoot was done, I had no idea that I would have the chance to actually hang out with the two of them along with Kelly Ford of KYGO, and Ed Green of Chanel 4 News. Tricia Yearwood and I sat on a couch talking for at least an hour while Garth was in various interviews. She is one of the sweetest people I have met, and was genuinely interested in me, and my life. She talked a bit about her and Garth, their life together, their children and touring together. Of course, I had to tell her that I had been to his concerts and have loved both of their music for a very long time. I mentioned that I would love to get Garths autograph. She interrupted his interview and asked him to help me out with that…I was stunned. I jokingly asked him to write on the autograph that it was “great hanging out with me,” but he went one better than that. Look on the picture of the two of us to see what he wrote.
After this, I was able to attend a small personal concert with very few in attendance. I was not only able to photograph the charity event, but the concert as well! I did not have any time with Troy Aikman as he seemed very busy and had to leave early, but I didn’t mind, I will take hanging with Garth and Tricia any day of the week over a football guy. What can I say, I’m a country girl at heart!
