How to Have a Successful Portrait Session with Pets, Part 1
Feb 7, 2020 | By: AP Senior Portraits
Thanks for reading my guide on how to have a successful family session with your furry family members!
Although I specialize in senior portraits, I have done my share of family portraits, and their pets. Everything from horses in the pic, to dogs and even a cat or two. When clients tell me that they would like to include their pets in their family session, they often feel overwhelmed or like it’s too much trouble. I won’t sugar coat it, taking photos with your pet can be challenging, but I have learned a few tricks over the years to make this process go more smoothly for everyone involved.
Let’s jump to the first tip. Be Patient. Pet portraits can take lots of patience and understanding from all participants. Our pets often have their own ideas and own timetable. Make sure you are not rushing and remember that the more relaxed you are, the more relaxed and comfortable your furry family member will be too. In addition, I can always blend an image with the pet from one shot, and the family from another! So, don't stress, any good photographer with killer photoshop skills can make it all look like one seamless image!
