No matter who you go to for your seniors pictures, this is SUPER IMPORTANT! The photographer has to take the time to get to know you, otherwise, how will they create images that tell the story of who your senior is at this point in their life? Here are a few things you can do to help the photographer get to know your child...
Write down the reasons that you want to have senior portraits taken. Let me give you a hint: senior pictures are to celebrate the person your senior has become. You have done well. For the past 18 years, you have poured your heart, sweat, and let’s be honest, tears into this person. Senior portraits celebrate them and you. Starting with this as the foundation will help you make the next crucial decisions successfully. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
How are you feeling? Rock solid, right? Now that you have your foundational “why” for having senior portraits taken, you are good to go. Let’s move onto the next step to making sure these pictures are the highlight of their senior year.
Like I said, these pictures are to celebrate everything your senior (and YOU) have accomplished. Think of all of the great things they have accomplished. Whether it’s making it through Spanish 2, getting a part in the school play, making it to the all-state choir or being captain of their team… Whatever the accomplishment, consider highlighting it in their senior portraits.
Start making a list of items or experiences that you would like to have documented by your photographer. Make this list as long as you can and then narrow it down to the top 1-3 accomplishments that define your senior. Having this small list will help you create the perfect session.
This is starting to get fun, right? You love your senior and you know their talents. This is your opportunity to have them really shine.
Feel free to browse my website and check out my images for inspiration. You can also create your own Senior Photo Shoot board on Pinterest with the inspiration you find from other places and invite me to join so that I can see what you like and what inspires you. Pin things such as clothing, poses, location ideas and more to help me get to know you and the look and feel you want for your session.
It’s important to me to get to know each and every one of my clients before their session. Whether we connect by phone or in person, we will spend a little bit of time together so that we can get to know each other. This is an important step as it will help me identify your style, wants and needs. This is your time to let me know if you have any concerns and ask questions so that your session will be the best it can possibly be.
